Trafficking: A Mockery to Women Empowerment

Abstract: Right to life with dignity is the most fundamental human right. Trafficking of human beings and in particular of women is a crucial problem in international as well as in the regional context of South Asia. It is a contemporary form of slavery, which has hydra headed issues. It is a major obstruction in the way of woman empowerment. Trafficking proves failure of the society to perform its duty. The author, hereby, highlights emerging factors- apart from traditional factors leading to trafficking in India, legal instrumentality to address this threat. Major tools and techniques of socio-legal research methodology is part of the present paper. The author aims at highlighting major hotspots of trafficking, and concludes with suggestive remarks.
