CHILDLINE Advisory Board meeting held on awareness and publicity among masses

Xavier Institute of Social Service (XISS), Ranchi is the nodal organisation of CHILDLINE, Ranchi and provides guidance and reliable services to children of various communities residing in slums and villages.

The CHILDLINE Advisory Board (CAB) is the principal policy-making body of CHILDLINE at the city level and is responsible for ensuring the effective functioning of CHILDLINE. The CHILDLINE Advisory Board comprises of the senior functionaries of Government Departments in the district. These departments include the Department of Social Welfare, Woman and Child Development, Labour, Railways, Telecom, Municipal Corporation, Police, Health, Child Welfare Committee, Juvenile Justice Board, Other NGO networks, Representatives from the CHILDLINE nodal, collaborative, support and resource organisations. The Deputy Commissioner of the concerned district is the Chairperson of the CHILDLINE Advisory Board.

The functions of the CHILDLINE Advisory Board are: (i) To assess and review the functioning of CHILDLINE services; (ii) To address policy issues emerging from cases intervened into; (iii) To work towards making the system more child-friendly. A meeting of the CHILDLINE Advisory Board was held on 24 March 2022 at 12.30 pm in the conference hall of the Deputy Development Commissioner’s office. This meeting was chaired by Shri Vishal Sagar, IAS, Deputy Development Commissioner (DDC), Ranchi. Dr Sanjay K.Verma, Programme Head, CHILDLINE, Ranchi, Ms. Suradha Kachhap, City Coordinator, CHILDLINE, Ranchi and other twenty-five members from the various allied system also attended the meeting. The agenda of the meeting were, case interventions of the CHILDLINE during the financial year 2021-22, awareness and publicity of the CHILDLINE, circular from SP, City and Rural for missing children, coordination meeting of DCPU, CWC, JJB, SJPU, CCI and CHILDLINE.
