Xavier Institute of Social Service (XISS), Ranchi, organized its ‘Games and Sports Week’ from 20-23 January 2023, with enthusiasm and zeal in the students. The sports week included several sporting events for students as well as faculty and staff to showcase their athletic prowess.

Director, XISS expressed his happiness stating that it is a very happy moment to kickstart the sports week and one should remember that it is not just about winning matches but the right platform to showcase team spirit.

The week saw knockout matches of Basketball, Table-Tennis, Carrom, Chess, Futsal, Badminton, and Tug of War. Students from all Programmes along with Faculty and Staff actively participated in the matches.

In table tennis (boys) single, Team HRM won and in doubles Team Finance won the game, in doubles Team Finance defeated Team HRM, while in table tennis (girls) Team HRM won in both the singles and doubles categories. In the final game of Carrom, Team Finance defeated Team HRM. In the game of Chess, Team Finance won in the finals. Meanwhile, in Badminton (M) Singles, Team MM defeated Team FM; in (W) Singles, Team HRM defeated Team RM; in Doubles (M) Team MM defeated Team FM; in Doubles (W) Team HRM defeated Team MM, and in Mix Doubles Team MM defeated Team FM.

In Futsal, Team Marketing Management defeated Team Rural Management. In Tug of War boys’ match team Finance won whereas in girls’ team HRM won. In the finals of Girls’ Basketball match team HRM defeated RM by 50-4 score, while in boys’ match HRM-I defeated RM-II by 33-12 score.

At the end of the day prize distribution ceremony was organised and prizes were distributed among the winners and Runner-ups of Basketball, Badminton, Futsal, Table-Tennis, Chess, Carrom and Tug of War sports event. By this way the sports week came to a sporting end.
