Induction cum Orientation Programme for the Batch of 2022-24

Marketing Management Programme

A week-long Induction cum Orientation Programme was held from 2-10 August 2022 for the new batch of students of the Marketing Management Programme. The objective of the Orientation Programme was to familiarize the students to the Institute’s environment by providing all relevant information with respect to academics, co-curricular, and extra-curricular activities.

In the first session, Dr Bhabani Prasad Mahapatra, Head of Programme, introduced all the faculty members of the Programme to the students. Subsequently, the orientation programme covered different areas like rules and regulations with respect to code of conduct, discipline, examinations, library and its resources, summer and final placement opportunities were discussed. Sessions on skills and knowledge which are important for a modern-day manager such as knowledge of general management domain, time management, group dynamics, and trust were also conducted. Separate sessions with distinguished alumni and guest speakers were also organized everyday which provided students a real time understanding of market and industry.

The students were also told about the various committees and clubs and the various events organized under their aegis. The orientation programme also had sessions on Ice-Breaking Activities coordinated by Dr Tina Murarka, Dr Pooja, and Dr Fedric Kujur which provided experiential learning in a fun-based environment. The Induction cum Orientation Programme was coordinated by Anmol Roshan Bodra, Associate Professor of the Programme.

Rural Management Programme

An Induction cum Orientation Programme for the first-year students of Batch 2022-24 was organised during 2-11 August 2022. The Induction Programme was organised to orient the students about XISS and its Vision and Mission. They were further explained about the course curriculum, discipline, evaluation, pedagogy, rural camp, urban field exposure, and student exchange programme of the Rural Management Programme. An Alumni Interaction was also organised where two alumni Mr Anup Hore from Centre for Development and Knowledge, Ranchi and Ms Sarbani Bose from Pradan shared their journey and experience with students. The Programme was coordinated by Dr Raj Shree Verma under the guidance of Head of Programme, Dr Anant Kumar.

Yoga for Health classes was also organised for the Rural Management students of batch 2022-24. The session focused on knowledge and skills to keep ourselves fit. Students are encouraged to understand their limitations and work within their bounds. Yoga training classes were held on the August 5, 8,10,11, and 12 2022 from 6-8 am in the basketball ground of XISS. Ms Sapna Jha was the Yoga Instructor and Dr Sanjay K. Verma coordinated this session.

Financial Management Programme

The new batch of Financial Management Programme (2022-24) is a well-diversified batch with good number of students with BE, BCA, BBA and BCom backgrounds. A 7-day orientation programme for the students of the Financial Management Programme began on 2 August 2022. The Head of the Programme (HoP) briefed the students of the Vision and the Mission of the Programme. Thereafter, each faculty member of the programme interacted with the students. The first day programme concluded with ice-breaking sessions.

During 3-5 August 2022, Director, Dean, HoP, guests, alumni, and each faulty member of the programme discussed and familiarized the students on issues regarding Jesuit vision and mission. In the sessions further, pedagogy, curricular, extra-curricular activities, discipline, ethics, summer internships and placements were discussed with the students. Later, sessions on code of conduct, exam patterns, credit systems, current and future labour market scenario, job opportunities, and many other relevant matters were also conducted.

On August 6 2022, the students interacted with the Director and the Superior of the House in the morning session. Thereafter, the students interacted with the members of the various committees and the alumni association of the AAXISS. In the later sessions, the students were familiarized with the various resources available in the library, various students’ clubs, and the usage of ERP.

During 8-9 August 2022, each faculty member apprised the students of all the courses they teach, the contents of each course, the programme outcomes and the course outcomes of each course, the pedagogy they adopt in teaching each course, among others.
