Students’ Representatives Election held at XISS

XISS believes in empowering students with responsibilities and creating them into professionals with a difference. This resonates with an objective that the Institute needs to maintain and follow a systematic procedure of getting students’ representatives and giving them an equal opportunity. The Academic Council during its regular meetings decided that the method of election will be followed. There will be an election process for the selection of efficient and effective representatives who will represent the class in various curricular and extra-curricular activities for good coordination and governance.

Thus, the election was conducted on 20 August 2022 under the following heads:

1.Class Representative (CR)One from every class of each programme
2.Assistant Class Representative (ACR)One from every class of each programme
3.Cultural and Sports Committee (CASC)Two from every class (One Male and One Female)
4.Annual of Xavier Institute of Social Service (AXIS)Two from every class of each programme
5.Canteen RepresentativeOne from every class
6.Summer Placement representativeOne from 1st Year of each programme
7.Assistant Summer Placement RepresentativeOne from 1st Year of each programme
8.Placement RepresentativeOne from 2nd Year of each programme
9.Assistant Placement RepresentativeOne from 2nd Year of each programme
10.Alumni RepresentativeOne each from 1st & 2nd Year of every programme

The students of the class nominated the names of a student, self-nominated themselves for the election. This was followed by voting by the students of the class. The students who got the maximum vote won the election.

Under the broad roles and responsibilities for various posts, it was clearly laid down that their performance will be monitored after every term. The evaluation process will be used to enhance the leadership skills, their capacity to manage and deliver better results. In case of low performance, counselling and mentorship will be done before replacement of the representative.
