Training on Gender Sensitization

A Two Day Workshop cum Training on ‘Gender Sensitization, Prevention and Prohibition of Sexual Harassment of Women Employees and Students and Redressal of Grievances in Technical Institutions’ was organized by the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of XISS from 3-4 September, 2021 at Fr. Michael Van den Bogaert SJ Auditorium, XISS, Ranchi.

The Workshop was chaired by Dr. Joseph Marianus Kujur SJ, Director, XISS, Ranchi. The resource persons for the Workshop cum Training Program were Fr. Ravi Sagar from The Centre for Human Rights & Law, Indian Social Institute, New Delhi and Advocate, Supreme Court of India, New Delhi and Ms. Bokali Kasho, Advocate, Centre for Human Rights & Law, Indian Social Institute, New Delhi.

On 3 September 2021, the workshop cum training program was held for the staff of XISS, whereas on 4 September 2021, it was attended by the Faculty, Project officers and District Project Coordinators of the XISS-UNICEF Project.

The need of an Internal Complaints Committee in an educational institution and the main features of the “All India Council for Technical Education (Gender Sensitization, Prevention and Prohibition of Sexual Harassment of Women Employees and Students and Redressal of Grievances in Technical Institutions) Regulation, 2016 was discussed in detail. Some of the laws enacted in India for the rights of children and protecting them from sexual harassment were also discussed. A legal session was also conducted separately for the members of ICC, XISS, Ranchi. A Question and Answer session as well as feedback session was held which saw active participation from the participants on both the days.
