HRM Programme organizes an Alumni Reunion for PM & IR, Class of 1997 at XISS

The Human Resource Management Programme of Xavier Institute of Social Service (XISS), Ranchi organised a glorious Alumni Reunion for the Personnel Management & Industrial Relations (PM & IR), Class of 1997 at Fr Michael Van den Bogaert Auditorium of XISS.

The reunion was held to commemorate the class of 1997's silver jubilee celebrations. 22 distinguished alumni who are currently HR leaders in several large organisations attended the event. The alumni cherished the nostalgic moment and shared their life journey with the students.

The event commenced with a welcome address by Dr Joseph Marianus Kujur SJ, Director, where he expressed his happiness on the vibrant gathering and extended his heartiest wishes to the class of 1997 on achieving great milestones in their personal lives and the glories they have brought to the Institute. He mentioned that their Alma Mater is proud of seeing them all grow as good human beings, well-educated individuals and position holders of top organisations who now contribute to make the society better. He also explained different aspects of life, growth, and importance of time which are key elements for students.

In his special address, Dr Amar E. Tigga, Dean Academics, XISS, welcomed the alumni back to campus and stated that the alumni of the institute reflect the legacy and glory of the institute and the Class of 1997 has made XISS very proud of all of their achievements. He also mentioned that the institute has grown since their graduation and now has an online platform Alma Connect to keep all of them connected to their Alma Mater. There is also an Alumni Association of XISS (AXXISS) and its different city chapters which are instrumental in expanding the XISS Alumni base across the world. He also appealed everyone to connect, reconnect, and stay connected.

He also talked about the upcoming placement season and emphasized the importance of support from alumni not only in bringing organizations but also in training and developing students, the market demands for.

Earlier, Dr Ramakant Agrawal, Professor, HRM Programme and moderator of the event, warmly welcomed the alumni back to the campus and said that all of them bring a treasure of knowledge and expertise with them and XISS is so glad to have them all back in the campus.

Dr Shyamal Gomes, Professor and Head of HRM Programme, presented a summary of the programme and introduced all the HRM faculty members to the alumni.

In the cultural events, students of the HRM Programme presented a group song and dance. A panel discussion section was organised where the esteemed alumni in five different panels attended by the students of the HRM Programme talked about contemporary issues in HRM such as Industrial Relations, Wellbeing & Mental Health, Multigenerational Workforce and HR Technology.

Dr Pradeep Kerketta SJ, Assistant Director, XISS, Ranchi presented the vote of thanks where he said that the experience of the class of 1997 is important for the current batch and they must learn from it. The alumni reunion was attended by all faculty members of the HRM Programme along with faculty members of other programmes, staff and HRM students of both first and second year.
