Xavier Institute of Social Service (XISS), Ranchi, successfully organized its ‘Games and Sports Week’ from 28-31 January 2025, at the campus. The event saw a wide array of sporting activities designed to showcase the athletic talents of students, faculty, and staff.

Dr Joseph Marianus Kujur SJ, Director, XISS, inaugurated the event and addressed the enthusiastic crowd, emphasizing that sports represent a combination of physical, mental, and emotional skill. He highlighted that these sports are about discipline, sportsmanship, and fairness, urging participants to compete with integrity regardless of the outcome.

The sporting events kicked off with matches in Cricket, Basketball, Table Tennis, Tug of War, Carrom, Chess, Football, and Badminton. In the Basketball match, the HRM team of both Men and Women triumphed while both teams also won the Tug of War (Men and Women) events and were the Cricket (men) runner up. The Rural Management Men team won the Cricket match and were the runner up of Football (Men) and Tug of War (Women) events. The Marketing Management team were the Basketball (Women) Runner up. Meanwhile, the Financial Management team clinched the Football (Men) trophy, while also were the runner up for Basketball (Men) and Tug of War (M) events.

In the matches of Badminton, the Human Resource Management team won the Men Singles & Doubles, Women Singles & Doubles. In Carrom matches, the team won the Women's Singles & Doubles while were the runner up in the Men's Doubles. The Table Tennis matches of Men's singles & Doubles were won by the team while were also the runner up in Women's Singles.

Furthermore, the Financial Management team were the winners in the Badminton (Mix) and runner up in Badminton Doubles (Men). In the Chess match they were the winners. In the Carrom matches, they won the Singles (Men). While, in the Carrom Singles (Women) they were the runner Up. The team won the Table Tennis Singles (Women) and were the runner up on the Doubles (Men).

Meanwhile, the Marketing Management team were the runner up in Badminton Women Singles & Doubles and in Table Tennis Singles (Men).

The Rural Management team in the Carrom Single (Men) won and were the runner up in Doubles (Men) match, Doubles (Women). In the Badminton Singles (Men) were the runner up and won the Chess match.

The event was graced by Dr Pradeep Kerketta SJ, Assistant Director of XISS, Dean Academics, Dr Amar Eron Tigga, Finance Officer, Fr Ashok Kandulna, Heads of the four Management Programmes at the institute, faculty members, staff, and students.

Students from the Human Resource Management, Rural Management, Marketing Management, and Financial Management programmes, alongside faculty and staff, were all actively engaged in the matches.
