‘Ven a Casa’ – Annual Alumni Meet celebrated XISS
Xavier Institute of Social Service (XISS), Ranchi, organized ‘Ven a Casa’ – The Annual Alumni Meet on 8 February 2025 in its campus. This grand event brought together alumni from across India and abroad to reconnect and reflect on their journey which began at XISS. The sponsors of this event included Maruti Suzuki, NHPC, UFLEX, CCL, PVUN, Coca-Cola, Last Mile Care, Leads, SDS, and AAXISS Delhi NCR.

Overall, 168 alumni working in various organizations attended the event. The event began with the lighting of the lamp, followed by a melodious prayer song and an inaugural video showing the past, present, and future of XISS. The lighting ceremony was attended by Dipika Pandey Singh (Minister of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, GOJ), Fr Ajit Xess, Chairman, XISS Governing Body, Dr Joseph Marianus Kujur SJ Director, XISS, along with Assistant Director, Dr Pradeep Kerketta SJ, Dr Amar Eron Tigga, Dean Academics, Fr Ashok Kandulna, Finance Officer, Presidents of Delhi, Mumbai, Ranchi, Alumni, Faculty, Staff, and Students of XISS.
Mrs Dipika Pandey Singh, Minister of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, GOJ addressed the gathering and said, “My work is guided by the many principles highly imbibed here. The principles of equity, empowerment, and participation. Our development policies must not be dictated by top-down approaches, but must be inclusive, sustainable, and people-centric. XISS has instilled in me the understanding that development is not charity, it is a right.”

Fr Ajit Xess, in his speech said we invite our esteemed alumni to actively participate in building XISS’s newest university campus, ensuring its academic excellence stands the test of time. “Your accomplishments continue to inspire future leaders, and we look forward to your engagement in mentoring students, sharing career insights, and shaping the institution’s future, he stated.
The Director addressed the gathering of Ven-a-Casa, emphasizing alumni ownership and belonging. He expressed pride in XISS’s 70-year milestone and its evolution through VUCA, BANI, and RUPID worlds while upholding Jesuit values. Highlighting future plans, he spoke about the developments of the new XISS campus and the vision of becoming a university, reaffirming XISS’s commitment to excellence.

Alumni chapter presidents from various cities delivered their presentations, including Mr Ashok Priyadarshi (President, Mumbai Chapter), Mr Mussarat Hussain (President, Delhi Chapter), and Mr Jasbir Singh Khurana (President, Ranchi Chapter). A felicitation ceremony of the silver jubilee batches of PGDM PM and PGDM RD was held to celebrate their milestone.
In the evening, the Rajputana Rifles band delivered a special performance, followed by songs, dance, skits, and acts by students and alumni. Dignitaries inaugurated the book launch of “The Untold Story of Leaders”, with copies distributed. A key highlight was the felicitation of all alumni present. The event concluded with live music, an open mic, and a gala dinner.
