HRM Programme organises Interactive Session with Senior Alumni



Human Resource Management (HRM) Programme of XISS organized an Alumni Interactive Session for HRM II students on 12 July 2022. Ms Shrabani Basu (Batch 1985-87), former CHRO – Reliance Foundation Hospital, and Consultant to Healthcare & Associated Livelihood Programmes for Govts. of Karnataka, Maharastra, West Bengal, and Uttar Pradesh was the key note speaker. In her deliberation she pointed out the Strategic Role of HR in the present context of Business. The entire session was moderated by Ms Mary Sheila Bodra, Associate Professor, HRM Programme and Dr Binit Lakra. Assistant Professor, HRM Programme.

Mr. Robin D Cruz, alumnus of XISS HRM Batch 2008-10, took a session on 19 July 2022 and shared his valuable experience with the students. He has been associated with Bharti Airtel for the past one year as a Circle HR Head. During his interaction, he laid emphasis on having the right knowledge and understanding of the business one is associated with. He also mentioned that HR is no more a support function but a business partner so the budding HR professionals should learn how and what to communicate to different stakeholders. He explained how diversity, inclusion and belongingness play a role in making business successful in today’s world. He also shared his views on work life balance and performance management. He spoke about the various challenges that he had faced as a sales HR. Quoting his real-life experiences, he made the students understand the importance of knowing the business in depth before joining the corporate and shared a few keynotes about how the upcoming HR professionals may become industry ready.

Mr. Sushant Kumar Singh, alumnus of XISS HRM Batch 2015-17 shared his valuable insights with the HRM students on 21 July 2022. He has been associated with Amazon for the past three months and prior to that he worked with ITC for a period of five years. He focused on the transition of an individual from Campus to Corporate. He spoke about change management and having a clarity on aspirations. He related the reinforcement theory of motivation while talking about making a leap. He motivated the students to be consistent and understand that how the breaking point can be the breakthrough point.  Being in the HR domain from the past 5 years, he spoke of how identifying behavioural patterns helps in coming across our shortcomings. Proceeding further, he shared topics for the students to explore and also mentioned a few technical skills that every HR professional should possess.
