Silver Jubilee Batch Reunion of Rural Development batch 1995-97 held in XISS

With its splendid past, dazzling present and gleaming future, Xavier Institute of Social Service (XISS), Ranchi reverberated with cheers and laughter on the occasion of the Silver Jubilee reunion of its Rural Development, class of 1995-1997 to enjoy campus life and revive their beautiful memories on 5 November 2022. It was indeed a momentous occasion to re-energize the spirit of pride, friendship, and loyalty for the 22 alumni attending the event of their everlasting connection with their alma mater and to network themselves and reconnect with each other, especially with the current students and to encourage mutual support and interaction between the institution and its graduates.

The event began by watering the plant followed by a reading of address by Dr Joseph Marianus Kujur SJ, Director XISS, in absentia, wherein it mentioned about the assistance sought by this illustrious batch to the students either physically or virtually to guide them throughout the year for facing recruiters, personality development, and corporate connect.

Further, Dr Pradeep Kerketta SJ, Assistant Director, XISS welcomed the alumni to come and cherish their past. He said that each one them are a true reflection and source of inspiration for XISS at this time when Jesuit values of being ethical is needed the most in the development sector.

In his address Dr Amar E. Tigga, Dean Academics, XISS, welcomed the alumni and stated an important fact that the alumni of university represent the past. He also mentioned about the recent accreditation of NBA and stressed to strengthen the bond between XISS and the esteemed alumni.

Head Rural Management Programme, Dr Anant Kumar ascertained that whatever we are, is because of our alumni. In the programme further, the alumni shared memories of their time at the institute and reminisced about their journey since then. The highlight of the event was "Saibal Baroi Scholarship Announcement" worth Rs 25,000 annually which was to honour Late Saibal Baroi, alumnus of RD 95-97 by his batchmates which was followed by the felicitation of the silver jubilee batch.

A series of cultural events including a Tribal dance on the theme 'Feel of Jharkhand' along with a skit ‘Safarnama', a group dance on ‘Join the Steps’ and a group song ‘Hit the beat’ was performed by the current students.

It was a nostalgic moment for everyone as they relived their college days after completing their silver jubilee. The event was attended by all the Heads of Programmes, Faculty, and students of Rural Management. The session ended with a warm vote of thanks by Dr Sant Kumar Prasad.
