Study Tour organised for students of Rural Management Programme

The study tour is an integral part of the PGDM-Rural Management Programme to provide an opportunity to students to visit various organizations, their programmes and interventions so they can learn and get exposure to different development interventions. For batch 2021-23, three study tours were organized from 9-21 December 2022 that covered 11 cities in seven states visiting 42 organizations under the supervision of Dr Anant Kumar, Dr Niranjan Sahoo, and Dr Raj Shree Verma.

Students were divided into three groups and each group visit 15-16 organizations/companies during the tour. Group 1 led by Dr Niranjan Sahoo visited Bhubaneswar, Kalinga Nagar, Bangalore, and Hyderabad in three states of Orissa, Telangana, and Karnataka. They visited 15 organizations including Corporates, UN Agencies, National NGOs, and Educational Institutions such as UNICEF, FES, Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys Ltd, XIM-U, Tata Steel Ltd, Rural Technology Park of NIRD, NICE Foundation, Rainbow Foundation, NMDC Ltd, ITW Chemin Ltd, Youth for Action, Dr Reddy’s, Shahi Exports Pvt Ltd, XIME, and Azim Premji Foundation. A total of 22 students participated in the study tour programme.

Group 2 led by Dr Anant Kumar visited NCR Delhi, Lucknow, and Varanasi in two states of Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. They visited 14 organizations including Corporates, UN Agencies, National NGOs, and Educational Institutions such as Spark Minda Group, National Foundation for India, UNIOM, Prayas, Tata Trust, UNICEF, PwC, PRIA, in NCR Delhi; Sahbhagi Shikshan Kendra, HCL Foundation, Sparc-India in Lucknow; and Jan Vikas Samiti, Kiran Society and SOS Children Village in Varanasi.  Total of 22 students participated in the study tour programme.

Group 3 led by Dr Raj Shree Verma visited Patna, Anand, Bhavnagar, and Vadodara cities in two states of Bihar and Gujarat. They visited BRLPS, PCI, Samvedana, COMFED (Sudha), DeHaat, Centre for Catalyzing Change (C3), FES, NDDB, AMUL, CSR-Pedilite, Shroff Foundation CSR, Sun Pharma, and CSR-Arvind Mills. All these include exposure to NGOs, INGO, Corporate, Cooperatives, and Government Society. Total of 21 students participated in the study tour programme. Apart from visiting organizations and their fields they had grand Alumni Meet at both states viz at Patna and Anand respectively.
