UBER President & Branch International MD deliver Campus to Corporate Leadership Talk
Xavier Institute of Social Service (XISS), Ranchi, organized a ‘Campus to Corporate Leadership Talk’ by Mr Prabhjeet Singh, President, Uber India & South Asia & Ms Sucheta Mahapatra, Managing Director, Branch International, India on the campus. In this session, students from the programmes of Human Resource Management, Rural Management, Financial Management, and Marketing Management were given tips to excel in their professional journey.
In the beginning of the session both speakers highly appreciated the mission of XISS and its uniqueness in building socially responsible professionals and asked the students to always continue with humility and hardwork. The session motivated the students for being risk taker and ambitious.
In the address to the students, Mr Prabhjeet Singh, President, Uber India & South Asia said that Uber is a technology company, but its working takes place in the real world. He continued saying that with an aim to become a game changer, one oftens confuses the literal meaning of leadership. A good leader must always be able to influence others, make them build a skill, give others what they want and understand the team and that is how one can influence their actions.
Moving ahead in the session, Ms Sucheta Mahapatra, Managing Director, Branch International, India in her advice to these soon to be young professionals asked them to not always try to be the smartest person in the room, rather be focused on gathering more information and practice continuous learning. She stated that one should be ready to learn from every situation and to analyse every circumstance before taking a decision. Always remember that everyone’s definition of success if different, and being a woman in leadership is even more difficult, so one should learn from the failure and bounce back stronger.
This conversation was carried further with a Q&A session where students asked these corporate bigwigs real-situation questions on their version of success, how to keep going even after the ambition is fulfilled, and how to cope with failures. The talk was a valuable and inspiring addition to the classroom teachings for these students, which provides them with real-world insights and guidance. The session was also graced by Director, Dean Academics, and Faculty Members of XISS. The program was coordinated by Ms Sucheta and the Vote of Thanks was given by Ms Priyanka Roy, both students of XISS.
