International Day of Yoga celebrated

Xavier Institute of Social Service (XISS), Ranchi, celebrated International Day of Yoga on 21 June 2025. More than 200 participants including Faculty members, Staff, and Students came together in large numbers to participate in the event, emphasizing the importance of holistic well-being through yoga.

The event commenced with an opening address by the Director, Dr Joseph Marianus Kujur SJ, who highlighted the universal relevance of yoga in today’s fast-paced world. He remarked this year’s theme ‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health’ as a stark reminder that, “Yoga is not merely a physical exercise; it is the integration of mind, body, and soul leading all to spiritual fulfillment. Let us embrace yoga as a way of life and inspire others to do the same.”

Dean Academics, Dr Amar Tigga also addressed the gathering and said that practicing yoga fosters discipline, focus, and resilience, which are vital attributes not only for personal health but also for professional excellence.

The yoga session was led by Mr Rahul Poddar, a certified yoga trainer, who guided the participants through various asanas and breathing techniques. Speaking about the significance of yoga, he said, “Yoga offers a pathway to inner peace and physical strength. Regular practice can transform one’s approach to health and life.”

The day concluded with a message from Dr Pradeep Kerketta who urged everyone present to integrate yoga into their daily lives to live a healthy life. The event was coordinated by Dr Madhumita Singha, who expressed gratitude to all participants and organizers. The event served as a reminder of the timeless wisdom of yoga and its capacity to bring people together in the pursuit of well-being and harmony.
