Samvidhan Diwas celebrated under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav at XISS


Xavier Institute of Social Service (XISS), Ranchi celebrated Samvidhan Diwas or Constitution Day under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav on 26 November, Saturday, in Fr Michael Van den Bogaert SJ Memorial Auditorium of XISS. The event was graced by Dr Pradeep Kerketta SJ, Assistant Director, Dr Amar E. Tigga, Dean Academics, Faculty, and Students of XISS.

The programme began with a pledge ceremony reciting the Preamble of the Constitution of India. Dr Pradeep Kerketta SJ, Assistant Director, XISS, on this occasion said that in governance we want is a spirit of inclusion for each one of us. It is important to reflect and understand the importance of the Constitution which is to recognise our responsibilities of enhancing the lives of others.

Dr Amar E. Tigga, Dean Academics, XISS, shared his views saying that the Constitution takes care of each and every one. There is a gap in our Indian Society, which is a challenge for each of us. We need to think and focus on important requirements to bridge this gap and ensure equality and justice for all.

The Rotaract Club of Social Revolution (RCSR) of XISS, organised a quiz and debate competition based on the theme of the day. The winner of the quiz competition were Satyam Kumar and Aprajita Sharma of TEAM A, and the runner-ups were Ritika Singh and Richa Poddar of TEAM B. 

A skit was presented by Aawaz, the dramatics society, on the theme “Significance of the Constitution” which reminded of the fundamental nature of the society. A high-octane dance performance by Pulse, the dance club, on the songs ‘Desh Rangeela’ and ‘Shubh Din’ grabbed everybody’s attention. The venue of the event was thematically decorated by Team Creategic, the decorative hands of XISS, and Team Obscura created wonderful memories of the day for everyone. While Shreya Samui and Shreya Gupta from Team Embark successfully coordinated the event.
