XISS students participated in the JSPCB panel discussion on Future Ready Jharkhand, Only One Earth
Students from Xavier Institute of Social Service (XISS), Ranchi participated in a panel discussion on the topic: “Future Ready Jharkhand – ONLY ONE EARTH” organised by Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board (JSPCB) on 7 December 2022. The event was organised with the aim to aware people of living in harmony with nature and that our only home is the planet earth, and it must be protected as it has limited resources for sustainable living.
This initiative brought subject matter experts, corporate leaders, students, and media persons on the same platform to discuss the present and future threats to the planet earth, focusing on Jharkhand. Dr Prakash Chandra Das, Assistant Professor, XISS Ranchi, talked about the resource curse, in which an area that has resources is paradoxically less developed. He discussed on the usage of solar energy as a substitute for coal, by setting up solar plants.
Member Secretary, JSPCB, Mr YK Das, stressed taking the necessary actions to conserve the depleting natural resources. Eminent speakers from the academic world and industrial sectors also spoke on the subject. Dr Bhupesh Kumar, Principal, Institute of Hotel Management, Ranchi, Dr Rana S Chakravarty, Director (Marketing and Production), Heavy Engineering Corporation Limited, Dr VVSN Pinakapani, Senior General Manager Environment, MECON, and Khushboo Kataruka Modi, Chairperson-Environment and Pollution Sub-Committee, Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries participated in this engaging session.
Students of XISS, IHM, Usha Martin University, and ICFAI also added value to the discussion.
