Background

Dr K Kusumavathi was awarded a degree of Ph.D. in Agriculture (Agronomy) from Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya (BCKV), Mohanpur, Nadia, West Bengal (2024). She obtained a master’s degree in Agriculture (Agronomy) from Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT), Bhubaneswar, Odisha (2018) and pursued her bachelor’s in Agriculture from Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU), Andhra Pradesh (2016).

Professional Experience

Dr K Kusumavathi started teaching in 2018 after finishing her master’s in ANGRAU and Dr. YSRHU, Andhra Pradesh. While doing her Ph.D. she also worked as a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) for two years and one year as a Senior Research Fellow (SRF) in a project sponsored by the Department of Science & Technology and Biotechnology, Government of West Bengal. Before joining XISS (2025), served as SRF in the CIMMYT project at ICAR-IIWM, Bhubaneswar for eight months. Subsequently, she contributed to the ICAR-Network Project on Precision Agriculture (NePPA) for four months. She joined XISS in the year 2025 and has been working as an Assistant Professor in the Rural Management Programme. She offers courses in livelihood promotions and skill development, agriculture, organic farming biodiversity management and agri-business management.

Achievements

Dr K Kusumavathi achieved the Best Master Thesis Award in the year 2018 by GKV Society, Agra, U.P. She also qualified Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board National Eligibility Test in the discipline of Agronomy. She is a dedicated and experienced professional with a passion for teaching and a strong background in research. Proven ability to conduct thorough research, analyse data, and contribute to scholarly publications. She committed to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment. She has presented research papers in many National and International Seminars, Symposium and Conferences. She provided contributions to the academic world in the form of publishing articles. So far, she published ten research papers in Scopus-indexed, NAAS, SCI journals and four book chapters. She also acted as a reviewer of international journals like PeerJ, Journal of Polymers and the Environment etc. and topic coordinator of special issue on Frontiers in Agronomy. For the enhancement of her knowledge, she has done some certificate courses like an online course on “Remote Sensing and Digital Image Analysis” offered by the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), ISRO, Dehradun, for one month enhancing her expertise in geospatial technologies and their applications and attended trainings like Precision Agriculture and Drone Technology & its Applications in Agriculture.
